The Crossings at Carlsbad: Hilly Paradise

In this weeks edition of San Diego's Top Golf Courses, I'll be reviewing one of the more popular courses in San Diego, The Crossings at Carlsbad \

THE COURSE:

The Crossings at Carlsbad is one of the most challenging, and most popular courses in San Diego. I would say it is in the Top 3 for most trafficked courses in San Diego.  The Crossings is an 18 Hole, Par 72 course. Not only is is super challenging, I think it might be the most unique course in San Diego. The course is carved into the hills of Carlsbad, just inland from the Pacific Ocean. Throughout the entire course, you are facing wild elevation changes from tee box to the green, which results in getting some interesting lies, forcing you to hit solid shots. Not only is there elevation changes to make it challenging, the course is super long, coming in at almost 7,000 yards, making it one of the longer courses in San Diego.

QUALITY:

The Crossings stays in pretty good shape all year around. I have seen it suffer a little bit in the spring, but that is simply due to the amount of people that are on the course everyday during that time of year. During the summer it stays in great shape. The Crossings has some of the best green designs that I have seen, requiring you to hit all different kinds of shots. Overall the grounds crew does a great job.

VIEWS:

While the elevations changes can be a challenge, the one thing that they provide is some of the best views that you will get from a golf course. At the peaks of the elevation changes, you get incredible views of the Pacific Ocean and of San Diego as a whole. When you are at the bottom, you are surrounded by these super cool valleys that I have not really seen anywhere else.

OVERALL:

Overall, The Crossings is an incredible course, and is a very challenging course. If you want to play a course that is truly nothing like anything that you have ever played, The Crossings is calling you name. It will provide a challenge for even the most skilled golfers. If you are in San Diego and want to play, make sure to book your tee time in advance, as they do fill up rather quickly.
