Maderas Golf Club: Quality At It's Best

In this weeks post on 'San Diego's Best Golf Courses' we will be taking a look at one of San Diego best maintained courses: Maderas Golf Club.

THE COURSE:

Maderas Golf Club is located in far east San Diego, tucked in the mountains and surrounded by valleys, making it one of, if not the toughest golf course in all of San Diego. Maderas is a par 72, 18 hole course that stretches just over 7000 yards, making it incredibly long. The course demands that you hit not only long tee shots, but incredibly accurate ones too. Along with that several of the greens have very tricky pin placements requiring you to have a great short game. Strategically placed bunkers and lots of elevation changes only add to the complexity of the course.

QUALITY

Maderas is the best maintained course that I have ever had the pleasure of playing. The dry, hot climate can make it really hard for grounds crews to keep the course in great shape, but they somehow manage to do it. All of the tee boxes and fairways are consistently mowed to perfection, and the greens are kept in some of the best shape that you will ever see. Along with that, Maderas has an incredible clubhouse and driving range that are always in great shape.

VIEWS

Since Maderas is located in far east county San Diego, you don't get the ocean views that you do at many other courses. However Maderas shines in other ways. You get incredible views of the San Diego mountain ranges and the deep valleys that the course runs throughout. Many have said that it is one of the prettiest courses that they have played, simply due to the different views you get and how well maintained the course is.

OVERALL

Overall, Maderas is defiantly a top 5 course in San Diego. From the overall quality of the course, to the different views that you get throughout the course it makes it a great experience. If your having an off day with your golf game, the quality of the course will most defiantly make up for it. The only downside of Maderas is it can be quite expenesive, especially in the peak of golf season, however it is worth the price.
